First trad session visit checklist

Verify the session with its host, arrive ready to observe, and let the musicians and venue set the tone.

Check the host’s current channel: a historic association with music does not prove that a session is running on a particular visit.

Before you go

  • Confirm the session directly with the venue or named host.
  • Ask about access, seating, admission or booking when any of those points matters to you.
  • Keep the current source link and recheck it before travelling.

When you arrive

Give the room time before choosing where to stand or sit. Avoid blocking musicians, staff routes or other visitors. If you want to record, photograph, request a tune or join in, ask rather than treating one session’s custom as a rule for every session.

If you brought an instrument

Listen first and follow the host musicians’ invitation or guidance. A public listing does not automatically make every gathering an open session, and skill level or instrument fit cannot be inferred from a directory description.

Afterwards

If a listing was inaccurate, send the venue a neutral correction request and tell Sesh.ie what source now contradicts it. Do not post personal assumptions about who organises the session.

Sesh.ie does not organise the session or confirm dates, venues, tickets, age access, lineups, availability, legality, safety, prices or organiser status.
